Horsetail (Equisetum arvense) is named for the the bristly appearance of the jointed stems. Horsetail can be found in the northern hemisphere. The stem is collected for medicinal purposes. Horsetail contains equistetonin and flavone glycosides, both thought to contribute to mild diuretic actions. Horsetail is used topically as a supportive treatment for wounds and burns.
